The Beautiful Town of St. Malo - by Sofia Rivas et Eliana De Bates
The water was a sky blue that crashed around the rough rocks covered with colorful moss. Along where the sand stopped, you would meet the old stone walls that have snail shells, along with yellow and green moss in its cracks. The beautiful town is hidden behind the walls, protected by canons that saved it from enemy ships. The museum is in a castle filled with a dark, steep spiraled staircase that led us to historical artifacts.
We took a walk through the town and found that we could understand how Marie-Laure went from place to place in the city. We walked out past where her home would have stood; we believe that we also passed what inspired the idea of the door and the iron key that lead Marie-Laure to the sea. The once high sea became a low tide near the end of the trip. The sand looked untouched when the sea was low. The field of sand could lead you to an Island with a fortress at the top. The island hosts the corpse of one the the most famous authors in French literature.
Even with the cold and rainy weather, this city still shined. We loved this city and it’s rich history. It is a place that we would love to visit again!
